2025 — 2026 · Hospital Enrique Cabrera · Havana, Cuba
Daily clinical management of Ward C alongside a 1-in-4 emergency rotation averaging ~100 encounters a shift. Emergent intubation, independent paracentesis, ACLS resuscitation — and an eighty-year-old woman whose deterioration was findable at seven in the morning and not at two in the afternoon.
A 1-in-4, 24-hour emergency surgical rotation: separating minor soft-tissue presentations from life-threatening acute abdomens at the front door, independent bedside closures and abscess drainage, and first assist on gangrenous appendicitis, oncological resections and ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms.
A high-volume inpatient obstetric service with a 1-in-4 rotation across Labour & Delivery and emergency triage. Leopold's manoeuvres and fundal height, uterine dynamics in preterm and active labour, a supervised primary delivery at 38 weeks — and a threatened abortion at nineteen weeks that was admitted rather than sent home.
Structured exposure across nine paediatric subspecialties while holding a 1-in-4 emergency call schedule, through an arboviral surge that required serial examination of infants at four-hour intervals and frequent PICU transfers. Weight-based salbutamol, the acute paediatric abdomen, and the parent whose trust is a diagnostic instrument.
2025 — 2026 · CMF-4 · Policlínico Presidente Allende, Havana
A community practice panel of fourteen families under the Policlínico Presidente Allende — five obstetric, eight paediatric, ten geriatric patients — reviewed house to house on a bi-weekly cycle. All five obstetric patients enrolled in prenatal care before twenty weeks, which requires knowing who is pregnant before she presents.
2025 — 2026 · Havana, Cuba
